Why do I have to be a Safety Officer?
Who is a Management Level Safety Officer?
- If you are an employee who work in a high-risk workplace such as mining, petrochemical plant, refinery, oil and gas distillation plant, etc. and that place has more than 2 employees. And, you are a manager to them.
- Or, you are not in a high-risk place but work in an amusement park, hospital, car repairing services, supermarket, shopping mall, warehouse, construction company, or one of the 49 workplaces on the list number 2. And that place has more than 2 employees. And you are a manager to them.
- Or you are not on the number 1 or 2 but working in a bank, or in a head office of those factories, and they have more than 20 employees, and you are one of the manager to them.
Why you have to be trained and certified?
- Because of your employer of such a workplaces have to comply with the laws otherwise they will face severe penalty. (6 months in jail, 200,000 THB fine.)
- Because you are going to be appointed to take the roles of Management Level Safety Officer in your workplace.
What is the course outline?
- This training program is a 2 days training course.
- You have to attend the class not less than 60 percent.
- You have to pass the final test with score more than 60 percent as well
- Within 2 days you will learn
- Laws and Regulatory Requirements in relation to workplace safety, health and environment
- Principles of Managing Safety, Theories and Frameworks behind accident prevention and controls
- You will learn Management Systems such as ILO-OSHMS 2001, ISO 45000
- Perform Management System audit
- Everything you learn in the class is to ensure that you can perform the given roles and responsibility of a Management Level Safety Officer.
You will never walk alone.
- Your are just one type of a safety officer in a workplace. Their will be another type of safety officers to work for you. Your supervisors, they will also be a Supervisor Level Safety Officer. They will ready execute you plans.
- You will work with full time safety officer- depends on what kind of workplace and how many total employees in that place. For example, if you are in a garment factory that has 20-49 people, you will work with a Technical Level Safety Officer. On the other hands, if you are in a poultry plant where more than 4000 workers there, you will work with Professional Level Safety Officer and a Safety Function.
- You will work with Safety Committee
In general, Management Level Safety Officer is tasked to PDCA- Plan-Do-Check-Act- safety programs, manage and ensure your team are in safe and good condition. You are not an ordinary manager anymore. Your roles is a lot more than production. sales, marketing, etc. You got it?
