Why me

There is a ton of safety standards and requirements that an employer must follow and comply with. Many of them can lead to heavily fine or even jail term penalty. To comply with these standards, employers are required to delegate their authority to management level who are trained, certified and appointed to be “A Safety Officer”. To cascade the roles, supervisors are also being delegated to take important parts as “A safety Officer” as well. And when that workplace has reached to total number of employees, more than 20 but less than 50, they will need other hands from “A technical level safety officer”. The business grow, the number of employee increase to more than 50 but less than 100, they will need another level of a safety officer. For a workplace that have more than 100 employees, they need at least one professional safety officer. Workplace which is employing more than 200 employees, they need to have some management function call “Safety department” or what ever you can call. Now you can see how much the workload for employer is being cascaded. On your shoulders. That is why you?
Next question you should ask is “what if I did not do my job as the law said?”

What bring you here? or Why I have to get trained and certified to be a safety officer, management level or supervisor level? That is a very common question raised by the managers, or supervisors in the class. Many of them are purchasing manager, marketing manager, accounting manager, warehouse and logistic manager, etc. When being asked about expectation they have toward the training that they are attending, most of them are “Nope, not really have any expectation, I was sent here to get a certificate”. Alright, this is what you must know. You are attending a training course due to the laws are forcing your employer to comply with. After being trained, you will be a “Competent Employee” and will be appointed to be safety officer at that particular level. Then you have the obligation set by laws to do. Now get it?
