Module 2, The “how.”

In Module 2, we move from the “why” to the “how.” In a manufacturing environment, the goal is to get the team back to the machines as quickly as possible. This module focuses on the 15-minute “Timebox” and the Three-Question Sprint.

In a shop floor environment, we replace vague updates with “The Three Precision Pillars.” These scenarios in your LMS to show the difference between a “Time-Waster” and a “Pro-Synchronizer.”

Scenario 1: The “What I Finished” Pillar

• The Vague Way: “I cut a bunch of those long rails yesterday. Took most of the afternoon.”
• The Precision Way: “Yesterday I finished cutting the 40 main top-rails for the Airport project. They are bundled and sitting at the Welding Station 1 right now.”
• Why it works: The Welder at Station 1 now knows exactly what arrived while they were gone. No hunting for materials.

• The Vague Way: “I’ll be welding all day. Same as usual.”
• The Precision Way: “Today I’m focused on the staircase handrails. My goal is to have the first 5 units ready for the cleaning tank by the 10:00 AM break.”
• Why it works: The Cleaning/Finishing team now knows when to expect their first “handoff” of the day.

• The Vague Way: “The oven is acting a bit weird, but I think I can make it work.”
• The Precision Way: “I am blocked by a faulty heating element in Oven 2. It’s inconsistent. I need Maintenance to confirm if we can run it at 400 degrees today, or I’ll have to move the ‘Black Finish’ orders to tomorrow.”
• Why it works: The Foreman can immediately pivot the schedule before the rails are even welded.

In the context of an aluminum rail production plant, the Three-Question Sprint is the engine that drives the 15-minute meeting. It is designed to be fast, factual, and forward-looking.

• Wrong (Status): “I worked on the balcony rails for a few hours.” (Vague)
• Right (Coordination): “I finished the 20 top-rails for the Smith project. They are bundled and at the welding station right now.”
• Value: The Welder now knows they have inventory ready to start. They don’t have to walk across the shop floor to check.

• Wrong (Status): “I’ll be busy at the CNC machine all day.” (No deadline)
• Right (Coordination): “I am cutting the base plates for the hospital order. My goal is to have the first 10 prepped by the 10:00 AM break.”
• Value: The Material Handler knows exactly when they need to be at the CNC station with a forklift to move those plates to the next stage.

• Wrong (Status): “The saw is a bit dull, but I’ll make it work.” (Passive)
• Right (Coordination): “I am blocked by a dull saw blade that is causing burrs on the aluminum finish. I need Maintenance to swap it out before I start the high-finish lobby rails at noon.”
• Value: The Foreman can reassign Maintenance immediately, preventing 2 hours of “re-work” or scrapped material.
