How heavy you can lift
In a third world, laboring children, pregnant women is very common. The way that government to show “I do care for your health and safety is to set up some guideline to restrict how heavy each type of the labor can carry. Not thing to do with ergonomic risk assessment. Just a number.
Employee welfare
There are so many complaints about inadequate arrangements of these basic need, drinking water, kept cleaned toilet, first aid and medical supplies, doctor and nurse services, emergency vehicles, or 24 hour medical services by a near by hospitals. Workers said it is not adequate while the employer said it is more than enough.
OSHA ACT
The very first time that a term “Safety, Health and Workplace environment” has been clearly defined by law. Some one who use to argue about how much should I do to make it safe. Should I lay a red carpet? Read the definition. This act is even more cover on the group of “Employee” who you may not think off and even bother to provide them a good pair of safety shoes. The last chapter is penalty.
Labour Protection Act
Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 replaced the old version of Labour Laws enacted under the Notification number 103 of The Revolution Party B.E. 2515. Until that year, Thailand had never have any regulatory agent at the level of Ministry to look after Labour and Welfare matters. The Labour Protection Act. B.E. 2541 (1998) mainly focuses on the right of labor such as, wage, working hour, overtime, etc. However, there are some part of this act that is regulating the prohibition of laboring under age child, pregnant workers. The Chapter 8 which has been taken out one year before the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Workplace Act B.E. 2554 (2011), use to be the main part of the Labor Protection Act talks about health and safety. Therefore, many of safety related regulations still in effective are enacted by the law.
Scaffolds
Scaffolding collapsed killed many workers is very common in this country. It happened almost on weekly basis. May be the high standard scaffolds is that clear to be referred to when hiring a contractor. Or may be, it is too expensive to touch.
Confined Space
” I here by certify that the confined space is safe to entry”…. Some one like to put one side of his leg into a jail by ignoring the other side of this law.
Radio active hazards
Replacing the old laws which had been used for 20 years ago. This laws has definition to cover nuclear sources, nuclear waste, and so on. It is more control than the old version.
Too high to fall
Help!!! and janitor fell from the window while she was cleaning it. Or, opps!! a hammer from the top of scaffold dropped on a head of pedestrian. Clearly, you might go to jail because of these.
