It took Thailand more than 40 years to come up with Occupational, Safety, Health and Workplace Environment Act. This is a first OSH Act that help raising safety standards in country. Failure to comply with regulations enacted by the labor protection laws can simply put "Employer" in jail for not more than 1 year, and or 400,000 Thai Bath fine. Sound scary isn't it?
The term “Safety, Health and Workplace Environment” has been defined clearly in the Section 4. As well as the definition of Employer and Employee are made clear in this section. Roles and Responsibilities of employer and employee are made clear in section 6. The best part is that employers are obligated to comply with relevant, pertaining regulatory requirements, standards and rules from Ministerial Regulations which are plenty. In general, the OSHA laws encourage employers to have a systematic control over the hazards and risk in their workplaces. Doing this, employers, managers, supervisors, are to take the given roles in safety management system. Requiring employers to provide safety information prior to assigning employees to perform their duties which can harm them through the system of training and communication are the key roles. Government is using the requirement for reporting, and approval by qualified, approved experts will be the tools to make all workplace to stay comply.
